ജീവത സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിലെ വെല്ലുവിളികളെ അതിജീവിച്ച് ഐപിഎസ് നേടി കേരളത്തിലെ പോലീസ് സേനയിൽ ഉന്നതസ്ഥാനത്ത് എത്തിയ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനാണ് പി വിജയന്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പഠനകാലവും, സാമ്പത്തിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളെ തുടര്ന്ന് പഠനം മുടങ്ങിയതും, അതിനെ അതിജീവിച്ച് മുന്നേറിയതുമെല്ലാം ഇന്ന് പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങളില് പോലും ഇടംപിടിച്ചതാണ്. അതെല്ലാം ഓർത്തെടുത്ത് കൊണ്ടുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്ക് പോസ്റ്റാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ പലർക്കും ഹൃദയത്തിൽ തൊടുന്നത്.
തൻ്റെ വലിയൊരു സ്വപ്നം സഫലമാകാൻ അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടും അത് നടക്കാതെ പോയതാണ് കുറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നും വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥി ആയിരിക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹം കൊണ്ട് സര്വ്വീസ് തിരക്കുകള്ക്ക് ഇടയിലും ഹാര്വഡ് കെന്നഡി സ്കൂളിന്റെ എഡ്വേര്ഡ് മേസന് ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പിന് അപേക്ഷിച്ചതും, രാജ്യത്തുനിന്ന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഏക ആളായിട്ടും അതിന് പോകാന് കഴിയാതെയായ സാഹചര്യവുമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ സ്വകാര്യദുഖം പങ്കുവയ്ക്കുന്നതിനൊപ്പം വലിയൊരു സന്തോഷവും പറഞ്ഞാണ് കുറിപ്പ് അവസാനിക്കുന്നത്.
പ്രശസ്ത എഴുത്തുകാരൻ അനിര്ബന് ഭട്ടാചാര്യ അയച്ച ഒരു സന്ദേശമാണ് പി വിജയന്റെ സന്തോഷത്തിന് കാരണമായി പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്. 2006 മലപ്പുറം എസ്പിയായിരിക്കെ പി.വിജയൻ്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള പൊലീസ് സംഘം അന്വേഷിച്ച ചേലേമ്പ്ര ബാങ്ക് കവര്ച്ചയെക്കുറിച്ച് അനിര്ബന് എഴുതിയ India’s Money Heist എന്ന പുസ്തകം ലോകത്തെ ഒന്നാംനിര യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റികളുടെ ലൈബ്രറികളിലും ലൈബ്രറി ഓഫ് കോണ്ഗ്രസിലും വായിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്ന അഭിമാനമാണ് പങ്കുവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
ഹാര്വഡ്, സ്റ്റാൻഫഡ് തുടങ്ങി പഠിക്കാൻ താൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റികളെല്ലാം ഈ പട്ടികയിലുണ്ടെന്ന് അനിർബൻ അയച്ച മെസേജിലെ പോസ്റ്റ് ഷെയർചെയ്ത് പി.വിജയൻ പറയുന്നു. ഇതിലെ സന്തോഷമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പങ്കുവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. നമ്മുടെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളില് ആത്മാര്ത്ഥമായി, സത്യസന്ധമായി വിശ്വസിച്ചാല് ജീവിതം നമ്മെ അതിലേക്ക് നയിക്കും എന്നതിന് തെളിവായി ഇതിനെ കാണുന്നു, എന്ന് ഓർമിപ്പിച്ച് കൊണ്ടാണ് പി.വിജയന് കുറിപ്പ് അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

Life is always like that. What we desire for most, will come to us through totally unexpected paths. For someone who started his education from a little known Puthoormadom Muslim Aided School, then at Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi, Harvard had always been a dream. But then, my life has always been a journey after such dreams. Projects like the Student Police Cadet programme are results of such persistent journeys that I had in pursuit of dreams. This is what I had learnt while my education got interrupted in my teens and also to the dreamy eyes of every teenager who stands before me - the only path to fulfil our dreams is education. Because education was the only fuel I had when I started my journey from Puthoormadom. I have always remained a student, which is why I applied for the Edward Mason Fellowship for Masters in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School even while I was busy with my career in Kerala Police. As part of the admission process, I had to give a 750-word essay. All I had to tell was about my life. I wrote that there are only two types of people in this world - problem people who are born into problems, live and die in problems and solution people who use their lives to find solutions to problems around them. I prefer to be part of the latter and better education like this would help me in that. I was the only Civil Servant from the country to be selected for the fellowship programme that year. But as fate would have it, I could not take up the course, because my own children needed my presence for their education at that point and also I could not raise the funds required to make this journey. If there is one loss of chance in life that pains me the most, it is this. But that pain got its reprieve when I got this message from renowned writer Anirban Bhattacharya, who wrote a best seller India’s Money Heist, based on the Chelambra bank robbery case that the team under my leadership successfully cracked while I was Superintendent of Police at Malappuram way back in 2006. He sent this post which said the book is being read in libraries of so many premier universities, Harvard and Stanford and even the Library Of Congress. As I said, if you really believe in your dreams, the path will eventually lead you there.
